报告题目:Photopatterned liquid crystal superstructures for soft-matter photonics(面向软物质的光控取向液晶超结构)


报告简介:

Liquid crystal photonics, with its unique dynamic tunability and flexible optical field manipulation capabilities, has become a key enabler for innovations in optical information technology. Addressing the limitations of traditional liquid crystals in microstructure control and multidimensional light field manipulation, we have achieved: [1 from scalar to vectorial] developing a phase-difference encoding strategy to enable multidimensional vectorial liquid-crystal holography. [2 from linear to nonlinear] integrating the nonlinear geometric phase with ferroelectric nematic polarization photopatterning in liquid crystals, we established a new framework for reconfigurable nonlinear photonics, leading to multimode structured vortices. [3 from 2D to 3D] demonstrating programmable self-propelling liquid crystal actuators enabled by a 3D dynamic helical medium. These studies open ways to design photonic structures for variable applications.


报告人简介:

Ling-Ling Maa tenured Assistant Professor at Nanjing University. She received her Ph.D. from Nanjing University in 2019, majoring in OE(optical engineering). She is engaged in research on liquid crystalline artificial microstructures and soft matter photonics. To date, she has published over 40 papers, including more than 20 first/corresponding-author articles in journals such as Nature Communications (2), Science Advances, eLight, Light: Science & Applications, Advanced Materials, and ACS Nano (2), along with 7 authorized patents. Selected first/corresponding-author achievements include 2 ESI Highly Cited Papers, 3 ESI Hot Papers, and 8 cover articles, with research highlights reported by professional science platforms such as ScienceDaily and Phys.Org.
