报告摘要:
Geometrical light- and electron optics are based on equivalent extremal principles as follows from the de Broglie relation connecting particle and wave properties. By employing these equivalence, the propagation of light rays in isotropic optical media and that of electrons in static electromagnetic fields will be derive from the principle of least action. Starting with the Gaussian approximation for the light rays and the electron trajectories, the paraxial properties of light and electron lenses will be derived and discussed. By employing the eikonal, the deviations of the rays from their paraxial course, which result in the aberrations in the image plane, will be investigated and means for their compensation outlined. In the case of light optics, aberration correction is achieved by utilizing the existence of aplanatic points enabling the construction of an aberration-free light microscope satisfying the sinus condition for perfect imaging. Because electrons must propagate in vacuum, an electron-optical equivalent does not exist. Since the spherical and the chromatic aberrations of round electron lenses are unavoidable, non-rotationally symmetric multipole systems which compensate for these aberrations will be proposed and their optical properties discussed. As an example, the properties of the hexapole corrector which is incorporated in almost all commercial atomic-resolution electron microscopes will be discussed in detail.

个人简历:
Harald Rose (born 14 February 1935 in Bremen) is a German physicist. He still is in advisory capacity for CEOS. His main research activities are in theoretical electron optics, especially aberration correction, theory of electron scattering and image formation in EM.
Rose received in 1964 his physics Diplom in theoretical electron optics under Otto Scherzer at the Technical University of Darmstadt. From 1976 to 1980 he was principal research scientist at The New York State department of Health. In 1973-1974 he spent one research year at the Enrico Fermi institute of the University of Chicago and in 1995-1996 one research year at Cornell and the University of Maryland. From 1980 to his retirement in 2000 as professor emeritus, he was active at the University of Darmstadt in the Physics Department. Since 2009 he has held a Carl Zeiss funded Senior Professorship at the University of Ulm. Rose has 105 patents of scientific instruments and electrooptical components.
