3. Multi-scale hierarchical structural amorphous composites for new functions.

Research Situation

Dr. Chen developed a new approach to synthesis new kinds of non-crystalline materials named nanograined amorphous alloys. Attributed to a combination of nanostructure and amorphous structure, this new class of materials shows unique mechanical, chemical and physical properties. This work provides a model material - nanoglass which moves the predictions of its structure and properties to experimental facts and would trigger intensive research in this field of materials science.
