Profile
Li Longtu, born in November 1935 in Nan'an, Fujian Province, is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University. He graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University in 1958 with a major in Industrial and Civil Building Construction and subsequently joined the faculty. He has long been engaged in teaching and research on inorganic non-metallic materials. During the 7th Five-Year Plan period, he served as the Group Leader of the Advanced Functional Ceramics Project under the National High-tech R&D Program (863 Program). During the 8th Five-Year Plan period, he was the Principal Investigator of a major project under the National 863 Program. He played a key role in establishing the State Key Laboratory of New Ceramics and Fine Processing (Key Discipline Development Project) and served as its first Director (1995–1998) and later as the Chairman of its Academic Committee (1998–2014). He co-founded the Journal of Advanced Ceramics and served as its inaugural Editor-in-Chief. He has conducted pioneering research in multilayer piezoelectric ceramic transformers, high-performance multilayer ceramic capacitors, and high-performance ferroelectric/piezoelectric ceramic materials and devices. He has published hundreds of academic papers and holds multiple authorized invention patents. He has supervised over 60 doctoral and master’s students. He has received numerous national and ministerial-level science and technology awards. Elected as an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1997.
