2008年9月24日下午3时，位于清华园主楼11区北京电子显微镜中心传出了喜讯，材料系于荣副教授照出了Si [112]带轴，间距为0.078纳米的“哑铃”结构图像。这是在中国大陆和港澳地区第一张具有亚埃尺度分辨率的真实的材料的图像。

朱静院士受邀在2009年国际铁电学暨IEEE国际铁电应用联合会议（IMF-ISAF-2009）上做大会报告。
8月24日，北京电子显微镜中心主任朱静院士受邀，在2009年国际铁电学暨IEEE国际铁电应用联合会议（IMF-ISAF-2009）上做大会报告，题为分析电子显微术在铁电陶瓷材料研究中应用。此次会议是12届国际铁电学会议与18届IEEE国际铁电应用会议联合召开，该会共邀请6名国际知名的学者做大会报告。国际铁电学会议自1966年以来每隔4年举办一次，其宗旨是为铁电学研究领域的最新进展提供一个交流讨论的国际平台。IEEE国际铁电应用会议是由IEEE的三个铁电相关分会发起，自1968年以来定期举行，其会议内容涉及铁电及相关材料的物理机制，加工制备工艺，性能结构表征以及应用等诸多方面。
Professor Jing Zhu was invited to give a plenary talk at IMF-ISAF-2009.
Professor Jing Zhu was invited by IMF-ISAF-2009 to be one of six plenary talker. The title is "Analytical Electron Microscopy Study of Ferroelectric Ceramics". The IMF-ISAF-2009, a joint meeting of 12th International Meeting on Ferroelectricity and 18th IEEE International Symposium on Applications of Ferroelectrics, is held from August 23 to 27, 2009 at Xi'an, China.
The IMF 12 is the 12th in a series of meetings held every four years since 1966, with a purpose of providing a forum for the presentation and discussion of the latest advanced research in the field of ferroelectricity, focusing on fundamental and applied topics related to ferroelectric phase transitions, traditional and new materials and related systems. The ISAF 18 is the 18th in a series of meetings held every year recently. The meeting is sponsored by the Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society (UFFC-s) of the IEEE. The meeting covers a broad range of physics, processing, characterization and applications of ferroelectric and related materials.
